Bogotá, November 18, 2021: The General Manager of Fedearroz, Rafael Hernández Lozano, was very concerned about the negative effects on production costs that the container crisis that has been present in the world for a few weeks is having.
The union leader pointed out that this situation has influenced the substantial increase in the prices of fertilizers and other inputs used for rice cultivation, a circumstance that, together with the low prices that paddy rice has presented in the second semester harvest, has created a situation of uncertainty compared to the 2022 sowings.
Faced with this difficult situation, the National Federation of Rice Growers has considered it of utmost importance that farmers strengthen the adoption of the technologies available to Fedearroz - FNA for cultivation, in order to reduce production costs and therefore improve profitability.
In the same way, it is essential that the National Government take special measures, aimed at controlling the price rises in inputs; accelerate the improvement of roads in production areas, support the installation of mechanisms for drying rice on farms, among other aspects that protect farmers' income.
